Geographic Information System (GIS) . . . .

a complex and intelligent mapping system

Duties and Responsibilities

Welcome to the Fayette County GIS, where a complex and intelligent mapping system called a Geographic Information System, or GIS is used.

Map Layers

GIS organizes maps in sections called layers. Each layer contains information about something specific such as utility lines, streets, parcels, topography, etc. Layers can be added together to create a map document that contains valuable information. All of these layers together assist the county in making better decisions, maintaining important data and providing easy access to information.
