Emergency Preparedness and Bioterrorism: What you need to know! The events that took place on September 11, 2001 changed public health’s focus on disaster planning. The staff at the Fayette County Health District has been actively involved in Emergency Planning on a local, regional and state level. We are currently planning for a biological, chemical or nuclear attack with collaborated from the local Emergency Management Agency, State Officials, The Central Ohio Region and the Centers for Disease Control. (CDC) The Health District’s Emergency Preparedness Staff has an Emergency Response Plan in place to address and Public Health Emergency. We currently actively participate in local, regional and state trainings. We also currently receive a grant from the Ohio Department of Health titled the Public Health Infrastructure Grant to oversee our planning efforts. Annually we exercise and train our plans to ensure that Fayette County is protected, informed and secure against a bioterrorism agent or other Public Health emergency.
