Adult Services Program
Fayette Progressive Industries, Inc. (FPI) is the adult program of the Fayette County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (MRDD). We are a non-profit corporation certified with the Ohio Department of MRDD and the United States Department of Labor. From our beginnings in one room at the Fayette Progressive School in 1976, the adult services program has grown in size and in reputation. We stand as Fayette County's leader as a provider of habilitation services to persons with disabilities,
We are proud of our state-certified staff who provide caring, professional services. For those enrollees who require special medications or certain medical procedures, we follow Ohio Board of Nursing rules. Staff are also trained in OSHA-required health and safety programs. The Fayette County Board of MRDD is a certified provider of Red Cross training.
Through an Individual Plan enrollees choose their program areas based on an evaluation of the enrollee's needs and desires. While enrollees are encouraged to ask their families to participate in the development of the plans, the staff encourage enrollees to make many of their own life choices.

Adult Eligibility Requirements
We serve individuals who are at least 16 years old, and have a qualifying disability which results in limitations in at least three of seven life areas. If you are interested in learning more about the Adult Services Program, contact the Intake Coordinator at: 335-7453

Adult Program Areas
Sheltered Work Program: Enrollees who choose to work at the sheltered workshop have available to them a program which deals primarily with work skills training and employment. As much as possible, training takes place on the work floor or in the community. Leisure time activities generally take place before or after regular working hours.

Retirement Program: Although no mandatory retirement is required, individuals age 55 or over who no longer desire a program emphasizing work training and employment have available to them a Retirement Program emphasizing leisure time, nutrition and health, exercise, community awareness, and other habilitation areas. The Individual Plan may indicate an abbreviated program day or a shorter program week.

Low Work Emphasis Program: For those individuals with severe or profound disabilities who need a program with minor emphasis on work training and employment, this program emphasizes important habilitation areas such as daily living and self care skills, public accessibility, and communication skills.

Community Employment Program: Enrollees who enter this program request training or supports in order to obtain work in the community. Emphasis is placed upon developing those skills and behaviors necessary to enable the individual to obtain and maintain community employment. As needed, we also will provide follow along support services after job placement.
Additional Services to Children, Adults and Families
Other services are available to adults enrolled with the Fayette County Board of MRDD:

Case Management: Some enrollees request assistance with legal issues, want to report major unusual incidents, or require guardianship information. The Case Manager is available to those persons who need an advocate to speak on their behalf.

Service Coordination: Especially for those individuals who do not have family members to assist them, a Service Coordinator can help with scheduling medical and dental appointments, may assist with Social Security paperwork, may assist in arranging transportation, and will monitor the enrollee's Individual Plan.

Residential Services: The Supported Living waiver Program is designed to assist the enrollee to live as independently as possible in the community. Some people choose to live alone, while others want to live in a small group; assistance may be full-time or part-time. All persons eligible for Fayette County Board of MRDD services may apply for assistance.

Family Resource Services: Except for those persons receiving Supported Living services, income eligible families / enrollees may apply for financial assistance for nutritional supplements, home modifications, personal equipment, respite care, family education, or counseling.

Transportation: A van or a bus will be available to transport most enrollees to day programming at no cost to the enrollee. Those in community jobs may have transportation provided at no cost or at a reduced rate.

Behavior Support: Some individuals require professional assistance in the management of their behaviors. Our trained and caring staff work to encourage positive social and work behaviors through a series of planned behavior modification techniques.
