- Why Recycle?
- Save Energy
- Conserve Natural Resources
- Save Landfill Space
-
- Taking care of our environment begins with the habits we learn. Recycling can easily become a habit when you set up a home recycling center. you only need space for two containers or boxes: one for paper and one for recyclable bottles, jars, and cans. Recycling is easy and only takes a few minutes each day.
-
- Where can I recycle?
- The Fayette County Recycling Center is located at the county transfer station, 1600 Robinson Road in Washington Court House. To reach the recycling bins you must pass through the transfer station gates on the recycling access road to right of the scales. The gatehouse is staffed with conscientious personnel who will note your arrival and departure as a safety measure, and to ensure the proper use of the bins.

- Practice the 3Rs
- *Reduce
- Try to reduce the amount of waste you generate. Use the smallest amount possible. "If one will do, don't use two." Avoid using disposable items whenever possible. Shop wisely buying items that can be recycled or that are made from recycled materials.
-
- *REUSE
- Use items and materials more than once. Be creative about ways to reuse materials. Try using cloth rather than paper or plastic whenever possible. Shop wisely selecting items that can be reused.
-
- *RECYCLE
- Collect materials that cannot be reused in their present form but can be processed to make something new. Take them to the local recycling center where the items will be transported to a material recovery facility known as a MRF. The items will be shredded or broken down into small pieces and sold to a variety of manufacturers for use in making new produces to be sold. Then we buy them. This is the "cycle" in recycle.
